Cloud Architect Kubernetes/OpenStack
Providing design consultation for a highly complex and continuously changing environment while utilizing DevOps methodology. My drive for learning and creating new things has enabled me to thrive in this challenging atmosphere.
Highlights
- Restored an entire zone of 300 OpenStack computes by creating a disaster recovery plan and executing it within 11 hours. Impacted workloads were of mission-critical FirstNet and received accolades from C-level executives.
- Initiated design layouts for various OpenStack, Kubernetes clouds for multiple customers helping successful deployment of SRIOV and DPDK NFVs on Mellanox and Intel.
- Created and deployed HELM charts to monitor MariaDB for non-Primary state and recover it to Primary state.
- Developed a patch for an OpenStack nova-compute bug resulting in saving 240 man hours for company. Bug had loss of connectivity between all OpenStack services with a widespread impact on multiple production environments for numerous high profile clients and this patch resulted in improved relationship with client.
- Recovered ceph cluster from pg corruption, avoiding customer data loss for a high-profile client with large ceph deployment. Received multiple accolades from customer as a result.
- Administered design feedback resulting in overall stability of Kubernetes, OpenStack, and non-OpenStack components of Airship resulting in drastic increased success rate of deployments.
- Resolved a long-standing OOM issue affecting all nodes across multiple data centers. Identified the root cause to be a design flaw in the tuning of Numa memory and Hugepage settings.
- Fixed issues with Intel and Mellanox SRIOV host and client drivers in NFVs. Also, was responsible for finding the RCA and patching qemu vhost driver with DPDK.
- Provided proof of concepts for multiple system architecture solutions, directly lowering cost for customers and adapting resilient solutions.
- Involved in design discussions, defect resolutions, and testing to reduce number of defects per release cycle from 50% to 4% per release.
- Established disaster recovery procedures for various infrastructure components and wrote KBs for best practices.
- Designed AT&T Integrated Cloud and Network cloud with 30K production and non-production bare-metal servers configured with both Open vSwitch and Juniper Contrail.

Highlights
- Provided proof of concepts utilizing Kubernetes/OpenStack technologies.
- Solved high priority issues associated with JVM memory leaks and PostgreSQL, causing numerous outages over 6 month period.
- Provided RBAC use cases and manually converted non-SSL Kubernetes clusters to SSL with Kubeadm and Kubespray tools.
- Created and updated Chef Cookbooks for infrastructure automation.

Highlights
- Overcame budgetary limitations by migrating Apigee platform and all associated APIs from tlsv1.0 to tlsv1.2 - effectively sidestepping a lack of vendor support.
- Developed a plan to complete a challenging migration of 51 zones to a newer version of OpenStack, previously determined to be impossible by the reporting development team.
- Executed critical migration of 36 Cassandra nodes while maintaining 24 operational nodes with zero downtime.
- Created and updated Chef Cookbooks for infrastructure automation.
- Troubleshooted issues with memory leaks in JVM, Kernel, and APIs.

Worked for AT&T business service APIs. Designed and built 51 environments of AT&T API platform within 3 months of joining project. Received 'Pat on back' award in Q3 2014.

Managed Ericsson datacenters across India. Designed and implemented an automated system efficiently backing up critical file systems saving 100k man-hours per project. Received 'Best Idea Award' in Q1 2013.
Highlights
- Developed preventive maintenance scripts for health checks on servers.
